Sometimes you just fall in love.

We didn't plan this. We didn't expect it. It just happened.

We’ve had dogs our whole lives and when our 16 year old Bibi passed, we were devastated. It took a long time for us to recover from the loss, but slowly we started missing the joy of owning a dog. When we started looking into dalmatian puppies back in 2020., all we wanted was a pet. We knew we wanted a Croatian breed, an cheerful family dog and a cuddle monster. Check, check, check. Dalmatian was a perfect match!

We contacted a renowned dalmatian breeder Pjegava Sanjaska about a puppy but there weren't any available. So we waited.

Two years later, a new litter came and the moment we saw this one puppy it was love at first sight. We knew this was it!

While her mom comes from a long standing Croatian kennel, we named her Pika - after her Slovenian dad. Our Slovenian relatives were particularly fond of the name: in Slovenian pika stands for a dot, point or full stop. It’s also famously used as the local name for Pippi Longstocking - Pika Nogavička.

Our little bundle of joy was soon running around the house, slowly melting our hearts away and turning our smartphone galleries into an endless mosaic of spots.

We completed several levels of puppy school with Pika, started training more seriously, and had loads of fun every step of the way. This little girl turned our lives upside down.

Before long, one thing became obvious: we'd fallen in love with Dalmatians.

As laughter and the sounds of puppy cuddles filled our home, we started wondering whether we should take her to a dog show and have her evaluated.

We're not going to breed her, of course. It's just to see how she'd do... right?

Our breeder, Sanja Jergović, was incredibly supportive of the idea. She helped us get started, and before we knew it, we were showing Pika and slowly learning the ropes of the dog show world.

Were we good at it? Nope. How could we be? We were doing this for the first time in our lives. But we were persistent. We asked more experienced people for advice, attended ring training sessions, and little by little, things started to improve.

To our surprise, the first successes came quickly. Positive feedback from judges led to our first CACIBs, then our first BOS, BOB, and BOG titles, and even a place in the finals at the international dog show in Varaždin. Pika soon became a Junior Croatian Champion, and eventually we made a decision: we’re going to breed her.

While the success in the show ring certainly excited us, the main reason we decided to pursue a litter wasn’t the compliments we were hearing from the canine judges - it was Pika's wonderful character. She grew into a gentle, friendly, playful and easy-going companion who continues to enrich our lives every day. We felt it would be a shame not to pass those qualities on.

Over the next two years, we immersed ourselves in the breed. We joined kennel clubs, learned everything we could about Dalmatians, met breeders, saw many, many, MANY Dalmatians, completed DNA testing and health screenings, attended breeding courses, obtained our breeding permit, and finally registered our own kennel.

Our goal is simple: to raise healthy puppies, make a positive contribution to the breed, and find wonderful owners who will enjoy the companionship of this incredible breed as much as we do.
